The Handbook to the Cards by Aleister Crowley and Lady Frieda Harris

An extensive book of interpretation for the Crowley Tarot cards - easy to understand for the beginner, inspiring for the expert.

It offers:

  • A fundamental introduction on how to use the Crowley Tarot.
  • A key to the picture symbols on the illustrated Crowley cards.
  • Practical assistance in interpreting each card with respect to these question areas: Profession, Relationships, Consciousness.

A guide to the best, time-tested card-laying methods for comprehensive questioning of the cards.

bookreview: The Crowley Tarot

February 21, 2000 Reviewer: Juan Ferretti Smythe from Chile

Excelent complement for the Thoth deck Comprehensive analisys and interpretations for each card in the Thoth deck, including card symbols, related ancient myths, jungian psychology comments, even famous music and paintings showing the corresponding archetypes. Easy to follow, depth and inspiring. A really excelent complement for the Thoth deck. Includes short biographies of Aleyster Crowley and Lady Frieda Harris (some of this material explains why Crowley choose different pictures/names for certain cards), and a (very) short introduction to cabala. More in the scholar tradition than most tarot books, that tend to understand new age as synonym of shallow. Great intermediate-level Tarot study book, for those of us using the Thoth deck. If you plan to read "The book of thoth'' and you don't have a *strong* occult background, I recommend the use of this book as a companion/complement. A basic knoweledge of jungian terms (archetypes, anima, etc) will be usefull but is not required.
